Nigerian actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has advised women to aspire to make a difference in every field of endeavour they find themselves.

She made this comment when addressing hundreds of young women at the maiden edition of ‘Woman of Valour’ summit.

The event which took place at the Labadi Beach Hotel, on Tuesday, March 7, saw many young women from different backgrounds in attendance.

Speaking at the event, the multiple award-winning Nigerian actress said, women should not concentrate on achieving equality with men or anyone. Rather, they should aspire to be different, adding that it was the only way they could stand out in all endeavours.

“I don’t advocate for equality, because we are not equal, we are different, I do not want to be equal to any man, who told you I may not even be higher than you?,” she quizzed.

She added that fighting for equality was demeaning and urged them to consider the power of decision making.

The award-winning actress said for one to be a woman of valour, there was no luxury for one to be weak, “you should believe in yourself and the quality you possess.”

She said as young woman who aspired to get to the top, they should not do anything they would be ashamed of when they got to the top.

Omotola revealed that the death of her father at the age of 12, changed her way of thinking, and she made up her mind that nothing could put her down again.

She urged women not to be so hard on themselves but calm down when things were tough, adding that it would present an opportunity for them to pick up the pieces and turn things around.

South African SuperSport presenter Julia Stuart and Ghanaian Children’s Rights Activist, Eugenia Baffour Bankoh were among other notable personalities who shared their stories with the young women.
