Council members inspect projects at Asokore College of Education
The Governing Council of Asokore College of Education in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region has commended the Principal, Professor William Koomson for the infrastructural development he has brought to the institution since assuming office.
The Chairman of the Governing Council who also doubles as President of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Accra, Pastor Dr. Thomas Techie Occran, said the massive infrastructural projects being undertaken in the College within the shortest time were commendable.
He said “It takes a committed, hardworking and selfless leader like the current Principal to be able to transform a College like the Asokore College of Education which was faced with infrastructural deficit in the time past to its current state”.
Leading the council to inspect some projects within the school, the Principal, Professor Koomson said that some of the projects were awarded on contract by the government but had been abandoned by the contractor since 2012.
“Since I know the legalities attached to these projects, I contacted the contractor handling the project and he told me he was no longer interested and so I took it up and used the school’s internally generated fund (IGF) to complete the school library and the Resources Center which can be used to hold conferences”, he said.
Other inspected projects include a completed ladies’ dormitory, the rehabilitated dormitory blocs, and a hair dressing salon as well as some other ongoing projects aimed at providing good learning environment for the trainee teachers.
Pastor T.T Occran in his remarks said the effort by the authorities to develop the college in their own way was appreciated, adding that it was an indication of their commitment to provide enabling environment for their students to enhance academic excellence.
