Ghana Events Awards introduces new categories

Organisers of the Ghana Events Awards, GEA, have introduced new categories in line with this year’s programme.

In all, there were 25 categories unveiled last Friday at the Silver Star Tower in Accra to unveil nominees for this edition.

The new categories are, Best Virtual Event of the Year, Most Prestigious Event, Event Hypeman of the Year, Event Security of the Year, Most Influential Event of the Year, Experiential Company of the Year, and Best Event Venue (Bars/Lounge, Hotels and Dome, Conferences & Gardens).

Other categories include, Most Influential Events of the Year, which would see events like, Women in worship, Glitz Africa fashion week, Ghana DJ Awards, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and Ghana Outstanding Women Awards compete.

Additionally, COVID-19 Heroes Concert, COVID-19 Virtual Concert, GhanaFest 32nd Virtual Concert and Mask4All Charity Against COVID-19 would compete in the CSR Events of the Year category.

Also it would be a keen race in the Ghana’s Favourite Events Awards category with Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Shatta Wale Faith Concert, Asaase Sound clash, 3 Music Awards, Radio & TV Personality Awards, Ghana DJ Awards and Sarkodie Black Love Concert.

There would be other exciting categories up for grabs for competing event schemes.

Speaking to The Spectator, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO )of GEA, Kevin Kenneth said, eventhough the event sector was hit harder in the heat of COVID-19 restrictions, with the support of his board, and other partners, they were able to put things together for this year’s event.

He added that his team was overwhelmed with the enthusiasm and the support received on the launch of the event, adding that it is a testament of an amazing event on October 16 at Movenpick Hotel.

‘Last Stop’ premieres on Friday, March 28

All is set for the premiere of the much-anticipated movie dubbed ‘Last Stop’ on Friday, March 28, 2025.

The movie will premiere at the Silverbird Cinemas (Accra Mall and West Hills Mall) and the Golden Eagles Cinema in Kumasi.

In the movie Last Stop, produced and directed by Kwabena Gyansah, a commercial driver and his assistant chaos after the assistant sells a passenger’s forgotten phone.

“Last Stop” offers thrills, emotional depth, and a story that keeps one guessing.

The movie is a rollercoaster ride filled with relatable characters, unexpected twists, and a powerful climax. It’s not just a movie, but an experience.

This intriguing movie features Adjetey Anang, Clemento Suarez, Lydia Forson, Andrew Adote, Benedicta Gaffer, Gloria Sarfo, Jessica Larney, Fred Amugi, Forster Romanus, Sheena Gakpe, Solomon Fixon Owoo, Kweku Elliot, Abraham Macprat Dadzie, Etti Beddi and Majeed Suhuyini among others.

 Redeemed Baptist Church congratulates trio

 Three members of the Redeemed Baptist Church in Ogbojo – Emerita Professor Eliz­abeth Ardayfio-Schandorf, Mrs Florence Mangwe Hutchful and Mrs Comfort Owusu, were among 22 award recipients for their exceptional contribution to national development at the 10th Ghana Women of Excellence Awards ceremony held in Accra.

The trio were recognised for their exceptional performances in their respective field of endeav­ours.

Emerita Ardayfio-Schandorf is a seasoned geog­rapher and Chairperson of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC), Mrs Hutchful comes in as the first President of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana and Mrs Owusu as the Executive Director of the Association of Rural Banks (ARB) Ghana.

The awards, held on the eve of the Internation­al Women’s Day, is a component of Ghana’s ob­servation of the Day which was under the theme ‘Empowering the Ghanaian woman for National Development.”
