Miss Tourism Ghana honours contestants, designers, makeup artists

For the thirteenth year, the Miss Tourism Ghana Organisation has hosted a prize giving ceremony for all stakeholders who contributed immensely to the success of this year’s event.
Those honoured at the awards party held in Accra on Sunday were contestants, photographers, delivery team, chefs, fashion designers, makeup artists, and sponsors.

Miss Christabel Nhyira Agyepong, the winner, Miss Wendy Mwimsun Wanye, the 1st Princess, and Comfort Yaa Boatemaa Abbey, the 2nd Princess, each took home a monthly allowance, a monthly data allowance, a monthly hair care allowance, and a year’s supply of GTP fabrics with covered cost for design and sewing.
They also took home hampers from Lele, Caveman Watch, Max Beauty Products, and overnight stays at 5-star hotels, including Accra City Hotel, Labadi Beach Hotel, Lancaster Accra, Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Tang Palace Hotel, and the Royal Senchi Hotel and Resort.
The 2nd Princess, Comfort Yaa Boatemaa Abbey, took home $100 for winning the Miss Read Competition, sponsored by Nana Ekua Brew-Hammond and Labadi Beach Hotel, in addition to GH₵1,000 from Esinam Awunyo, Miss Tourism Ghana 2012, for beating her competitors in the Miss Specific Tourism Contest.
The 1st Princess, Wendy Mwimsun Wanye, took home $100 for winning Miss Civic/Personality, sponsored by the McCabe Foundation.
The Queen, Christabel Nhyira Agyepong, who also won Miss Talent, took home GH₵1,000.00, sponsored by the People’s Pension Trust for winning Miss Eloquent, and a rice cooker for winning Miss Regional Presentation sponsored by Onga, as well as a night stay at the Tang Palace Hotel.
Edwina Blankson and Naa Ardua Tackie, who made it to the top five, each won rice from Onga. Miss Tackie, who also won Miss Entrepreneur, was awarded a weekend stay at the Lancaster Accra Hotel with full complements.
Additionally, Miss Blankson won Miss Vote and earned two nights at the Accra City Hotel with full complements.
While Miss Fashion Show, Zuweiratu Bubbey, won a night’s stay at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Miss Fitness, Erica Bazongoly, won a Documentary Video Shoot with Loyce Fitness.
Careen Naa Koshie Lamptey won an overnight stay at the Accra City Hotel with full complements.
All participants, including makeup artists and designers, received certificates for participation and hampers from sponsors.
The Chief Executive Officer of Miss Tourism Ghana, Mrs Delphine Brew-Hammond, expressed appreciation to the Member of Parliament for Kpando, Della Sowah, staff and all stakeholders for their continuous support.
She further expressed her gratitude to other sponsors including MJ Grand Hotel, Darling Hair, Happy Man Bitters, Ethiopian Airlines, DEKS Educational Institute, Spangles, Douglas Court, HAG Hospital and Fertility Centre, and JP Luxury Homes for helping to showcase Ghana’s tourism potential.

Redeemed Baptist Church congratulates trio

Three members of the Redeemed Baptist Church in Ogbojo – Emerita Professor Elizabeth Ardayfio-Schandorf, Mrs Florence Mangwe Hutchful and Mrs Comfort Owusu, were among 22 award recipients for their exceptional contribution to national development at the 10th Ghana Women of Excellence Awards ceremony held in Accra.
The trio were recognised for their exceptional performances in their respective field of endeavours.
Emerita Ardayfio-Schandorf is a seasoned geographer and Chairperson of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC), Mrs Hutchful comes in as the first President of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana and Mrs Owusu as the Executive Director of the Association of Rural Banks (ARB) Ghana.
The awards, held on the eve of the International Women’s Day, is a component of Ghana’s observation of the Day which was under the theme ‘Empowering the Ghanaian woman for National Development.”
The clergy and congregation of the Redeemed Baptist Church says Ayekoo to the award winners.

TGMA unveils nominees for 26th edition

Organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) have unveiled nominations for the 26th edition of the awards.
A ceremony to unveil the awards held last Saturday at the Grand Arena was filled with shocks, surprises, and excitement.
The ultimate category, Artiste of the Year will see, Kweku Smoke, Joe Mettle, Team Eternity, King Promise, Black Sherif, King Paluta and reigning champion, Stonebwoy.

Best New Artiste of the Year, a key category for the emerging talents to make a mark will feature Lali X Lola, Arathejay, Rap Fada, Beeztrap KOTM, and Kwesi Amewugah.
Lovers of gospel music will have a tough time choosing Empress Gifty, Joe Mettle, Team Eternity, Piesie Esther, Diana Hamilton or MOG Music as the Gospel Artiste of the Year.
Medikal, Sarkodie, King Paluta, Black Sherif, Kweku Smoke, Beeztrap and Amerado will battle it out for the Best Hiplife/Hip Hop Artiste of the Year crown.
A category which would generate controversy is the Best Rap Performance with a fierce contest between Sarkodie, Okyeame Kwame, Eno Barony, Lyrical Joe, Flowking Stone and Kweku Smoke.
There are other interesting categories like Highlife Song of the Year, Telecel Most Popular Song, Male and Female Vocalists of the Year among others up for grabs for the 26th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
The reigning Artiste of the Year, Stonebwoy was nominated in the same category again in addition to Album/EP of the Year – “Up and Running”, Best Reggae/Dancehall Song – “Psalm 23”, Best Music Video – “Jejereje”, Best Reggae Dancehall Artiste, International Collaboration of the Year – “Ekelebe” featuring OdumoduBlvck, “Jiggle And Whine” featuring Spice, and Most Popular Song – “Jejereje”.
