Mukarama Abdulai strikes Gold for Ghana in African Games Women’s Football Competition

Ghana came from behind to edge holders, Nigeria 2:1 to win Gold in the African Games Women’s competition at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Thursday.

Nigerians were off to a bright start as they dominated play from the early minutes of the first-half tempting Afi Amenyeku on several occasions.

The Falconets got the lead through Nijdeka in the 23rd minute after a howler from Afi Amenyeku gifted them a 1-0 cushioning.

Back from recess, the Black Princesses pushed for the equalizer and their efforts paid off in the 78th minute when Tracey Twum scored from a Comfort Yeboah cross.

The game ended 1:1 in regulation time and needed to go into extra minutes.

Mukarama Abdulai scored the winner in the 98th minute after receiving a pass from Mafia Nyame to give the Black Princesses a 2-1 lead.

With the resolute defence of Ghana, the team held on to the lead to win the game 2:1 in front of a partisan crowd in Cape Coast.

The result won Ghana Gold in the Women’s Football Competition in the 13th African Games.

PL: Vision FC records first-ever win after beating Accra Lions

Vision FC recorded their first ever victory in the Premier League after a 2-0 win at Accra Lions FC to conclude matchweek-2 of the Ghanaian top-flight on Monday September 16, 2024.

A goal in each half propelled the ‘Eewo’ lads to their first win in their debut campaign in the domestic elite division.

Elijah Addai put the visitors in front with a sublime finish in the 44th minute at the Accra Sports Stadium before Emmanuel Kyei doubled the lead for the Premier League new boys.

It’s a big result for coach Nana Agyemang, who is in his first season at the ambitious Ghanaian club.

Vision FC were held to a goalless draw at home by Berekum Chelsea, while Accra Lions are still without a win after losing 1-0 at Medeama SC last weekend.

Kurt Edwin Simoen-Okraku arrives in Nairobi for CAF meeting

President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, ahead of the Executive Committee (EXCO) meeting of the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF).

The Ghana Football Association boss is attending the meeting in his capacity as the President of the sub-regional bloc, the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.

The high-powered meeting, to be chaired by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, on Monday, 16th September 2024.

After the meeting, Dr. Motsepe will brief the media on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 13h00 local time (10h00 GMT) at a press conference in Nairobi, Kenya.

Areas to be covered in the briefing will include the CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2027, TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship and other up-coming CAF events.

President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku arrived in Nairobi on Sunday September 15, 2024, for the top level CAF meeting.
