Sonnie Badu reveals why he chose Grand Arena over Accra Sports Stadium for ‘Rhythms of Afrika’ concert

Multiple award-winning Ghanaian US-based musician, Sonnie Badu has revealed why he chose the Grand Arena over the Accra Sports Stadium for his Rhythms of Afrika concert on December 9, 2023.

The gospel heavyweight has returned to Ghana with a concert this December dubbed Rhythms of Afrika Concert.

Responding to a question from Entertainment Journalist, Edem Mensah-Tsotorme on Hitz FM as to why he chose the Grand Arena over the Accra Sports Stadium, Sonnie Badu revealed that any time he performs in the open and raises the Let it Rain song, it is followed by a downpour.

According to him, it happened the last time he performed at the Accra Sports Stadium, Kumasi and Cote d’Ivoire.

“The reason why we couldn’t take the stadium this time is, I don’t want rain to beat you, if I stand there, it will rain, if I start Let It Rain it will start raining, it will rain, it happened in Accra, Kumasi and Ivory Coast,” he said.

Against this backdrop, Sonnie Badu said such rains disrupt events and spoil instruments, for this reason, he decided to host the event at the Grand Arena on December 9, to avoid any rains.

“People will stand in the rain, but it spoils instruments and other things,” he said.

Additionally, Sonnie Badu said he wants the patrons of the event to enjoy the show uninterrupted.

“This time round I want people to experience what it will be like if there is no rain,” he concluded.
