Who is a celebrity? – COP Kofi Boakye asks

A celebrity is a person who is well known and gets lots of public attention, or attention from other people. Usually, a person becomes a celebrity from entertainment such as someone who is in movies, someone who sings or raps songs, or someone who plays a sport.

In Ghana, popular persons in the entertainment industry are classified as a celebrity. COP Kofi Boakye has made it clear on what celebrities are bound to do in order not to find themselves wanting with the laws of the country.

According to COP Kofi Boakye, a celebrity is not someone who appears in just one movie, or make a song, or just pull a weapon anytime. He continued by saying that, some individuals who call themselves as celebrities in the country do disgusting things.

He said if you call yourself a celebrity in the country, then you must desist from such activities or else the law will surely deal with you.

‘Who is a celebrity? What is the operational definition of the word celebrity? I think we should get that because I am confused. We are confused. Is it that when you appear in one film or you do one song, you qualify to be called a celebrity or what? And you see, because we are confused, we do not know what you want.’ He said.

This comes after the IGP and other police personnel met various celebrities in the country. However, the meeting was made private but COP did briefed the media on what happened at the meeting grounds.
