$3 Million Saga: Minister of Sports replies GBC
The Minister of Sports, Mustapha Ussif has responded to Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) over payment of about $3 Million for Media coverage of the 13th African Games.
In a statement the Ministry detailed when all contractual obligations to GBC were made, refuting an earlier remarks by the Director General of the state broadcaster attempting to cast a slight on the Ministry.
“We refer to the Public Accounts Commitlee sitling on Monday August, 19, 2024, where the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon Mustapha Ussif led the National Sports Authority and the National Youth Authority, two agencies
under Ihe Ministry to respond to issues raised by the Auditor General,” the statement signed by the Minister pointed out.
He noted that at the siting, the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram Constituency, Samuel Nartey George, asked a public interest question regarding the payment to Ghana Broadcasting Corporalion( GBC) for their production and broadcasting services rendered at the 13th African Games to which, the
Minister responded that GBC was paid in excess of $ 3 Million.
“The Ministry’s attention has been drawn to comments made by the Director General of GBC stating that they did not receive the said amount,” he added.
