Afenyo-Markin directed NPP MPs not to appear before vetting chaos committee – Bedzrah
The Chairman of the Adhoc Committee investigating the Appointments Committee chaos, Emmanuel Bedzrah, has alleged that Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin directed NPP MPs not to appear before the committee to testify.
During the committee’s first public hearing on Wednesday, February 5, Bedzrah announced the indefinite suspension of proceedings, citing a directive from the Clerk of Parliament, which was initially believed to have come from Speaker Alban Bagbin.
The Ho West MP revealed that he later discovered that the directive to suspend the committee hearing was orchestrated by the Minority and not an order from Bagbin.
In an interview with Vivian Kai Lokko on Channel One Newsroom, on Wednesday, February 5, Bedzrah claimed that the Minority leadership also actively prevented its members from testifying before the committee.
According to him, a witness from the Minority initially agreed to appear but later withdrew, citing instructions from Afenyo-Markin not to attend the hearing.
“We received a message from the other colleague who was coming that he was stopped by the minority leader. The one coming as a witness said he had received instructions from their leadership that nobody should come,” he stated.
