Arman Arzumanyan on How to Avoid Unfair Scrutiny & Keep Going
It’s not easy to understand someone else’s mind. It’s a place that is hidden and secretive from the outside world. Needless to say that others cannot always understand the inner world of our hearts and minds. And people often look down upon things they don’t understand. Especially when the path you choose for yourself goes against some of the patterns set by society from what it sees fit and worthy of being repeated. If you find your career under the unfair scrutiny of others, Arman Arzumanyan suggests the following three things to remember to keep the negativity at bay.
Why you started out
As time moves on and we become deeply engaged with our work, it’s possible to forget why we started in the first place. This may be due to the turn our work takes or because of the shade society at large might throw at us. To counter such situations, Arman suggests remembering “why you started in the first place. You started because you had something to say, something to carry forward, a way to make your way in the labyrinth of the world at large. Go back to the Why; that’s the place that’ll give you all the strength you need to find your way back to your work and regain your motivation.”
Your faith in yourself
Nothing can ever match up to your faith in yourself. Sure, it can be fueled by the faith your near and dear ones have in you, but in the long run, Arman Arzumanyan believes that it boils down to “how you see yourself. If you have faith in your work and trust your gut, there’s very little that anyone can take away from you. People tend to prey on weak people, but strong people are made strong essentially by their faith in themselves.”
People don’t know everything
Another thing Arman believes can come to your rescue when others begin to doubt your career choice is the fact that people don’t know everything. He says, “Sometimes even those close to us, owing to their ignorance, may feel differently about how we go about what we do. It’s important to remember that they might be wrong simply out of their cluelessness and that with time, they will change their opinion.”
Arman Arzumanyan’s suggestions are on-point and come in time for those who are attempting to forge their way to a new future.
