Awutu Camp Prison organises send-off for Senior Chief Officer

The Officer-in-Charge(OIC) and Staff of Awutu Camp Prison in the Central Region was organ­ised a send-off ceremony in hon­our of retired Senior Chief Officer, Hajiah Memuna Mahama, who bowed out of service after 34 years in the Ghana Prison Service.

She was presented with gifts and awarded a citation extolling her performance in the Prison Service, especially her commitment to excel­lence and upholding of professional standards.

The citation reads: “As a symbol of our appreciation of your 34 years, four months and 24 days of service in the Ghana Prison Service, we present to you this citation for the remem­brance of the good work done at Awutu Prisons and other stations.”

It was held under the auspices of the OIC of the Awutu Camp Deputy Director of Prisons, Thomas Anaman, and chaired by Deputy Director of Prisons (retd) Mireku Asante.

Present at the ceremony were two past Directors-General of Ghana Pris­on Service: William Kwadwo Asiedu and Matilda Baffour Awuah.

Also in attendance were, her husband, Assistant Superintendent of Prisons, Abdulai Dramani Bakibaga, other family members and friends.

Senior Chief Officer (retd) Mahama was enlisted into the Ghana Prison Service in 1989 and rose through the ranks by dint of hard work. She served at Nsawam Female , Nsawam Male Camp, James Fort Female, James Camp, Ankaful Main, Borstal now Correctional Centre and Awutu Camp prisons.
