Diamond International School visits New Times Corp

Diamond International School from Lagos, Ni­geria, on Tuesday visited the offices of the New Times Corporation (NTC), publishers of The Spectator and Ghana­ian Times newspapers.

The educational visit was to familiarise with the newspa­per production and operations of the other departments.

Accompanied by the headmaster of the school, Mr Samuel Dodoo, and other teaching staff, the children visited The Spectator and Ghanaian Times newsrooms as well as the Design Section before fraternising with a couple of staff.

At The Spectator news­room, the Acting News Editor of the paper, Mr Andrew Nortey, welcomed the staff and students of the school and took them through the processes of production.

He encouraged the students to develop the culture of reading to be abreast with developments across the globe.

“As a journalist, you must read a lot to widen your knowledge base. That would surely make you a good jour­nalist.”

In a bid to test their con­sciousness on social issues, he engaged the students in a question and answer session about football in Nigeria, asking about names of na­tional teams and players to which they enthusiastically answered.
