Dr.Duffour has called to congratulate me-John Mahama

The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) and former President of Ghana, John Mahama, has disclosed that one of his contenders for the flagbearership race, Dr.Kwabena Duffour has called to congratulate him.

Dr.Duffour who was former Bank of Ghana governor, and Minister of Finance under the erstwhile NDC administration was one of the aspirants for the flagbaearership election held last Saturday.

unfortunately, after mounting a strong contest, he resorted to court for a last-minute injunction and later withdrew from the elections after discontinuing the case.

Disclosing it on his Facebook page, former President Mahama wrote, “Last night Dr. Kwabena Duffour called to congratulate me for emerging victorious in the May 13 NDC presidential primaries. Mayor Kojo Bonsu also congratulated me earlier on Saturday.”

According to him, as he stated in his acceptance speech in Tamale yesterday, the internal competition for Flagbearer is over.

He added that cooperation is what the party needs “to build the Ghana we want together.”

John Mahama was declared winner of the primaries organised over the weekend after garnering 98.9 percent of the votes cast to lead the NDC into the 2024 general elections.
