Education Minister enstooled Nkosuohene of Tepa

Education Minister

 On Monday, May 1, this year, the Palace of the Paramount Chief of Tepa, Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem I, was thrown into a state of frenzy. It was filled to capacity by the elderly and young from the Tepa en­clave, high profiled personalities from the Ministry of Education, Ghana Edu­cation Service (GES) led by its Director General, Dr. Eric Nkansah, traditional leaders, the clergy and a section of the public.

The atmosphere was charged with traditional songs amid the beatings of ‘fontomfrom’ drums laced with cultural dance and recitations of poems.

The occasion was the enstoolment of the Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, as the Development Chief (Nkosuohene) of the Traditional Area. By the honour, Dr. Adutwum now goes with the stool name, Nana Yaw Adut­wum I.

The ceremony climaxed a four-day working tour of some parts of the Ashanti Region by the Minister to inspect ongoing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) projects and also interacted with stu­dents.

Through an interpreter, the Para­mount Chief said that he conferred the chieftaincy title on Dr. Adutwum due to the immense transformation that had taken place in Ghana’s Education system since he assumed office as the Minister responsible for Education.

The Tepamanhene noted that the impact of Dr. Adutwum’s transforma­tional ideas of STEM had been felt not only in Ghana but globally, having be­gun the good move in the United States of America.

He indicated that the sector minis­ter had aided the success of President Akufo-Addo’s Free Senior High School vision and needed to be applauded in that regard.

Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem emphasised that massive infrastructur­al development had taken place in the Tepa Senior High School and through the Minister’s vision, Tepa had got Teacher Training College.

“These and many others have come to my recognition, thus finding the need to honour my son, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum. Today, I confer on you the Nkosuohene of Tepa Traditional Area with the stool name, Nana Yaw Adutwum I,” he said.

After the installation, the Par­amount Chief urged the Education Minister to pay serious attention to the Tepa Senior High School to address some critical challenges, with regard to infrastructure.

The Education Minister, on his part, said he was proud to be installed a development chief and assured that he would spearhead development in the Tepa Traditional Area and Ghana as a whole.

The tour started off after a cour­tesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to receive his blessings.

Some of the schools the Minis­ter visited were Osei Kyeretwie SHS, Kumasi High, Kumasi Girls, Wesley Demonstration JHS, Krobea Asante Technical and Vocational Institute, Effiduase SHS,T.I Ahmadyyia (Asoko­re),Boanim SHS, Juaben SHS, were.

The rest were Saint Monica’s, Obuasi Secondary Technical, Christ the King, Asare Bediako SHS, Bosomtwe Girls STEM SHS,Saint Michael Technical and Vocational Institute, Jachie Pramso SHS and Tepa SHS.
