Equip girl child for opportunities under Affirmative Action law – Abuakwa North MP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North Constituency, Madam Gifty Twum Ampofo, has charged parents to encourage their female children to take up opportunities that come with the passage of the Affirmative Action Bill into law.
“Equip your girl child to be bold and to have the courage to grab all the chances available in the law,” she stated.
The MP said that, though the act was now in force, its purpose would only be achieved if it was used judiciously.
Speaking at the 20th anniversary celebration of the Kingdom of Christ Chapel at Kukurantumi in the Eastern Region last Sunday, Mad. Twum Ampofo explained that, women play a critical role in the socio economic development of the country and must embrace opportunities that come with the law which gives equal chances to both genders.
She pointed out that, the free Senior High School(SHS) policy has brought relief to parents, churches and many people who would have been tasked to pay fees every term as a result of which most parents end up selling their clothes and other valuables to be able to take care of their children’s secondary education.
The chairman of Kingdom of Christ Chapel, Apostle Edward Boadu Offei, urged Ghanaians to love God and love their neighbours, calling on the electorates to go and vote peacefully when the time comes and whoever emerges as winner will lead the country in its developmental agenda and bring prosperity to the people.
The National Property Officer of the church called on the citizens to support the fight against galamsey, pointing out that, without the citizens changing their attitudes, the galamsey fight will not be successful.
Touching on the upcoming elections, he charged the leaders of the various political parties to be guarded with their utterances and desist from inciting the youth to cause chaos
