Learn Instruments to become relevant musicians – Seyram Dei

A talented traditional Folk Musician, Edem Seyiram Dei has encouraged the up and coming musicians to learn how to play instruments in their musical career in order to be relevant in the industry.

“To be relevant as a musician in the music industry especially, the up-coming, you must learn an instrument in addition to your musical career”.

This, he indicated, could make them independent musicians saying, by doing so, they did not need a whole set of band or instruments before playing. Edem Seyiram’s manager is Ms Magdalene Dzifa Adzanu proprietress of SherryField Montessori school.

Mr. Edem Dei popularly known as “Seyram Music” made this disclosure in an interview during the “End of year party celebration of Cherryfield Montessori School at Pokuase ACP.

He charged them to work hard and achieve their goals  adding that the music industry was indeed, growing and getting more attractive.

“There is the need to give room for people who do alternative music like ourselves and others who are more into indigenous or traditional music”, he said and  called for equal platform to enable them showcase what Ghana has as far as traditional music is concerned so that, “it does not make the music industry one way”.

Edem Seyram who hails from Peki Avetile in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region focuses his music on old traditional  Ewe songs.

He gathers the old Ewe songs and modernises them for contemporary modern audience. He released his second album this year but he is currently based in Uganda.
