List Hepatitis on NHIS …Okyeame Kwame advocates

Multiple award winning musician, Kwame Nsiah-Apau, affectionately called  Okyeame Kwame has advocated for the need to list Hepatitis on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

According to him, if this is done it would enable more patients to access medication.

“It is my wish that NHIS will list Hepatitis treatment as well so that more patients can have access to medication,” he noted. 

As part of the campaign, Okyeame Kwame Foundation in collaboration with MDS-Lancet will today, July 23, 2022 embark on Hepatitis campaign walk under the theme; ‘Bringing  treatment closer to the patient.’ 

After the walk, there would be aerobics session coupled with Hepatitis B screening and vaccination to mark world Hepatitis Day which is observed on July 28. 

The walk will commence at the Silver Star Towers at 6am today, through airport, aviation enclave, and return to Silver Star for other activities.

The Okyeame Kwame Foundation has been organising a nationwide free Hepatitis Screening and vaccination for about 12 years now.
