Obaasima Academy launched in Accra

The Obaasima Academy, a women empowerment organisation has been launched in Accra.

The academy would bring together young women from across the country who would receive guidance and mentorship from distinguished women in Ghana to impact their communities.

Speaking at the launch, the Funder of Obaasima Academy and General Manager of Pan African Television, Maame Ama Prat said the dream to set up the academy started five years ago and delighted to witness its launch.

“The dream was to allow women create their own space, receive the needed guidance and support to excel,” she stated.

She said, they started with campus activities and the annual Obaasima summit which began in 2019.

“We thought that the yearly sessions were not enough but the new concept which would be a learning space for all would be better,” she stressed.

“Members of the academy would be taken through life opportunities and challenges to become holistic personalities. It would be a great tool to propel development among women,” she added.

She said, young people would learn from each other, sharpen and grow each other and not fixated on a particular destination since people could always be better.j

“Amazing young women brought together to learn from each other and grow with support from established women in society,” she said.

Resource persons for the academy include Madam Joyce Bawa, aid to former President John Dramani Mahama, Esther Cobbah, a strategist and a mentor as well as Dzifa Tegah, NDC Deputy National Women’s Organizer.

Gifty Adobea, a member of the academy said she decided to join since it was all about women conversation which would help bridge the gender inequality gap.

She was optimistic that, joining the academy would impact largely on her and the people around her.

She also urged women to take up leadership positions as they could do a lot for society.
