OccupyBoGDemo: Dr.Addison’s reaction, a show of arrogance and ignorance -Della Sowah

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Kpando, Della Sowah has expressed disappointment at the reaction of Bank of Ghana Boss, Dr.Ernest Addison.
According to her, the reaction from Dr.Addison to the Minority’s #OccupyBoG demonstration was unfortunate.
She added that for such a comment to come from him, is a show of arrogance and ignorance.
Speaking to Thespectatoronline, the MP said, according to Article 21(1)(d) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution (as amended): “All persons shall have the right to freedom of assembly, including freedom to take part in processions and demonstrations.
She added Dr.Addison wouldn’t have described this as uncivilised and action by hooligans if he were privy to this constitutional provision.
Della Sowah said demonstrations are legitimate alternatives for Ghanaians regardless of their position in society to express their disapproval of wrong policies and measures by governments.
She asked where Dr.Addison was when the current President, ministers and others close to this government were leading demonstrations in Ghana.
Della Sowah advised that with the challenges faced by the economy as a result of bad monetary policies and actions of the Bank of Ghana and the government, the least he could do as a Governor is to show respect to people who have been affected.
She said the Minority will not be perturbed by the level of disrespect and arrogance by officials of this government but will continuously hold them accountable and fight for the people of Ghana.
The Minority in parliament together with some aggrieved Ghanaians marched to the Bank of Ghana on Tuesday, October 3, to protest against what they describe as mismanagement by the Bank of Ghana.
Unfortunately, they did not present their petition due to the absence of the governors and vowed to return to the central bank with their petition.
