OccupyBOGDemo: I’m proud of you – IGP commends Police Officers

The Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare has commended the Police officers who were assigned to cover the #OccupyBOGDemo held today for a job done.

The Minority in Parliament on Tuesday, October 3, staged a demonstration against the BoG Governor for what they described as mismanagement of the country’s finances.

This protest follows the Central Bank’s loss of GH¢60.81 billion in the 2022 fiscal year and the use of over $250 million for the construction of a new headquarters at North Ridge.

The protestors amidst heavy security walked from ‘Obra Spot’ through some principal streets of the capital to the Atta Mills High Street close to the Bank of Ghana Office.

Unlike recent protests where the police clashed with protestors and in the process arrested some of them, today’s protest was peaceful without blemish.

The Police officers on duty were friendly and cordial, a posture which ensured a successful demonstration without any reported incident of manhandling of protestors.

Against this backdrop, the IGP George Akuffo Dampare was seen in a video commending service officers for maintaining peace during the Occupy BOG Demo.

Together with the leadership of the Ghana Police Service, the IGP was seen shaking hands and hugging his men and women for a good job done.
