People are people
Some people go through life and we see them going up and down but inwardly, they are a mess.
They are basically unhappy due to a lot of reasons, one of them being bitterness. One of the causes of hypertension is bitterness which usually result from things people do against us, either perceived or real.
This develops a kind of feeling of frustration and anger towards the perpetrators. The Oxford dictionary defines bitterness as anger and disappointment at being treated unfairly; resentment.
People are prone to all manner of mistakes, some unknowingly and others, deliberate mischief. Different people react to issues differently. Some take things in their stride due to their temperaments while others are easily offended.
Those who are easily offended have the tendency of being bitter and this is not helpful. The realisation that we are not in a perfect world and that people will always be people, will go a long way to deal with these triggers of bitterness.
The funny thing about bitterness is that most of the time, the perpetrators are not even aware that they have done something against us that is eating away at our peace of mind.
Therefore as you fume within yourself thinking of what to do to take revenge, the person who is the cause of your bitterness will be somewhere enjoying life. If you are not careful, you will be gradually developing hypertension that will hasten your departure from here.
In order to be successful in life, one needs to have a positive attitude towards life by not habouring ill feelings, creating your own happiness and be ready to easily forgive.
Some Pastors engage in bitter quarrels with pastors of other churches who they see as competitors especially when they hear that some of their members have left to join the other Pastor’s church.
What they fail to recognise is that this is an attribute of people. They tend to follow new things and new ideas and as some leave others will also come.
Human nature being what it is, you cannot perfectly predict the behaviour of people otherwise there will not be anything like divorce because no one will ever marry his or her enemy.
When you come to the point of understanding that human beings have a tendency to disappoint and that this behaviour comes with the territory, no matter the particular environment whether a social club, family, church, workplace etc.
As long as people congregate and interactions take place, people will always be people and one way or the other, somebody will step on toes; it is what it is.
People will always be people and until Jesus return to this world again, that is how it is going to be. The best antidote to stressful conditions is to understand that people are people and some may misbehave despite their level of maturity, spirituality or level of education.
There are things in this world that one cannot control and when it happens like that, one has to just accept them as part of life and move on.
The only way to avoid stressful situations in life is to acknowledge that human beings are not angels and are therefore prone to human failings which includes failure to keep promises, cheating on spouses, backbiting at the workplace, gossiping, bribery, corruption by people put in positions of trust, you name it.
That is life for you and so you need to develop a tolerant attitude towards life and recognise that in this world people can betray or disappoint as, not because they are evil but because they are simply human.
Judas was in the inner circle of Jesus but he betrayed him. C’est la vie as the French would say meaning that is life.
