Plan Ghana donates face masks to people of Tantala …after The Spectator story

Plan International Ghana has donated hundreds of face masks and sanitary pads to over 800 children and adolescent girls after a publication by The Spectator.

 On June 13, 2020, The Spectator published a story with the headline, ‘Tantala children use pure water sachet bags as improvised face masks.’

Mr Solomon TesfaMariam, the Country Director for Plan International Ghana who together with his team distributed the items said, his attention was drawn to the plight of the children in the newspaper by a friend in the United States of America (USA) and quickly contacted colleagues to get support for the children.

“After several consultations, we managed do get a company which produces Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to donate 1000 pieces of reusable face masks to be distributed to the children,” he said.

He also said, Plan International bought 500 sanitary pads for the girls to be used during the pandemic.

Mr TesfaMariam commended The Spectator for carrying out the story which resulted in going to their aid.

He urged the youth to adhere to the precautionary measures in order to stay safe in the community.

Mr John Mumuni, the Assemblyman for Tantala electoral area on behalf of the chiefs and the people, thanked The Spectator and Plan International Ghana for coming to their aid, especially to the youth.
