Portia Akua Mensah crowned Miss Tourism Ghana 2024

Portia Akua Mensah, a 20-year-old Level 300 student of the University of Ghana, studying Political Science and English is Miss Tourism Ghana 2024.

The grand finale of the event held at the National Theatre on Friday, September 20, marked the end of an era and a beginning of a new reign.

Portia wrestled the coveted Miss Tourism crown from eight other competitors.

Speaking to The Spectator after her coronation, Portia said she would embark on a project known as ‘Discover Ghana.’

The heart of this project, she explained, was to promote Ghana’s tourism sites to attract both local and foreign tourists.

She was optimistic that this would create employment and generate revenue for the teeming youth in Ghana.

The first runner-up was Lawrencia Ama Yeboah, a graduate of University of Education, Winneba, with a BSc degree, Biology in Education.

Stephanie Owiredua Kissi, a graduate from the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS, HO) with a degree in nursing and currently a national service personnel at the Eastern Regional Hospital snatched the 2nd runner up position.

They embarked on activities such as regional contest, talent night, culture night, read Ghana night, swimwear modelling, and fashion night among others to accumulate points in addition to the final display at the National Theatre.

The event was graced by the MP for Kpando, Della Sowah, Deputy Director of Domestic Marketing at the Ghana Tourism Authority, Kakra Kofi Atta Kusi, and Chef Faila of Cook-a-thon fame, among others.

 2024 Eastern Music Awards: Daasebreba Kwame crowned Artiste of the Year

Rising music sensation Daasebreba Kwame has been crowned Artiste of the Year at the 2024 Eastern Music Awards held at the Koforidua Cultural Centre.

The Eastern Music Awards, currently in its fifth year, promotes and recognises remarkable artistes thriving in the region and throughout Ghana in a variety of cate­gories.

The night featured thrilling performanc­es by nominees and past winners, high­lighting the Eastern Region’s rich musical tradition.

Daasebreba Kwame, who is signed to the Yaco International record label, has had a successful year, winning the prestigious Artiste of the Year award, as well as High­life Song of the Year at this year’s Eastern Music Awards.
