President Akufo-Addo in Guinea-Bissau for 3-day State Visit

President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa yesterday, Monday, May 15, 2023,  held bilateral discussions with the President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, His Excellency Umaro Sissoco Embaló.

This forms part of his 3-day State Visit to Guinea Bissau aimed at strengthening the ties of friendship and co-operation between our two countries.

in a statement, President Akufo-Addo indicated “We also explored, in detail, areas of possible cooperation between Ghana and Guinea-Bissau for the mutual benefit of our two peoples.”

The discussions, in the areas of education, trade and industry, agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture, environment, science and technology, petroleum and hydrocarbon activities, and tourism, were held in an atmosphere of fruitful cordiality.

As a result, they signed an agreement establishing a Joint Commission for cooperation between our two countries, which will serve as the legal framework for addressing the trade and investment ambitions of our two countries.

Subsequently, President Embaló also conferred on Ghana’s President

the highest accolade of the State of Guinea-Bissau, the Amilcar Cabral Medal, named after the great African freedom fighter.

Expressing his appreciation, President Akufo-Addo said, “It is an award I will cherish for the rest of my life.”
