Robotics lab opens at Axim Girls’ Senior High School
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Nzema East Municipal Assembly, Madam Dorcas Amoah, has advised girls to consider the study of Information Communication Technology (ICT) as a major subject to boost their studies in any fields.
She said it was high time girls dispelled the idea that ICT was a difficult subject and that it was only boys who could study ICT because the world was going digital and ICT was needed in all fields.
Madam Amoah was speaking to students of Axim Catholic Girls Senior High School at Axim in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region where Open Labs, operators in ICT opened a new Robotics Laboratory for the students.
She said ICT was being applied everywhere in the world in all fields so the study of ICT should not be a matter of choice but compulsory since it would be applied in the daily lives of everybody.
She congratulated Open Labs on bringing ICT to the girls and appealed for an extension of the facility to all schools where girls were studying to boost their knowledge in the subject.
The Western Regional Manager of Open Labs, Mr. Richard Nartey said ICT was the order of the day so the study of ICT was very necessary because it cut across all subjects in today’s businesses.
He said Ghana was going digital and as a leading ICT provider they expected all Ghanaians to make sure the study or knowledge in ICT became part of their lives because ICT would be applied in the day to day activities of everybody.
He said his outfit wanted to ensure that technology was brought to the door step of all Ghanaians in order to equip them with the basic knowledge in ICT.
He said he was confident that with the opening of the Robotics Laboratory at Axim Catholic Girls’ Senior High School, the students would use the opportunity to embrace the study of ICT.
The Headmistress of Axim Catholic Girls, Madam Alberta Quayson also said ICT was very necessary in all institutions now that Ghana was going digital and the world at large.
He commended Open Labs for coming to the school to broaden the students’ knowledge in communication technology adding “it is the right time to come to the school with the Robotics Laboratory”.
She told the students to take the study of ICT very serious so that they could apply the technology to solve the challenges of tomorrow.
