The Founder and General Overseer of the Divine Peniel Chapel Worldwide, Reverend Nana Yaw Gyamfi Benson, has urged individuals, especially Christians to continue to show love to widows and the needy in society.
According to him, the essence of Christianity was to reach out to the poor and the needy, adding that, “we must not wait for one to be in need before he or she is supported.”
“Christ gave to the needy and less privileged and since we are emulating Christ, we encourage the church, individuals and stakeholders to support these people,” he added.
Mr Benson made this remarks in Kumasi where he donated items worth GH¢10,000 to some widows, the sick and the needy.
The items included rice, oil, eggs, cloth and an undisclosed amount of money.
“For the past 21 years, the vision of the church has been to put smiles on the faces of many needy and the aged as well as widows; this makes me fulfilled in life” he explained.
“This motivated me to set up a foundation titled Benson’s Foundation which reaches out to street children and register the aged and widow on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS),” he added.
