Sunyani Estate District Women’s Ministry of Pentecost Church presents items to Estate Experimental Basic School
The Sunyani Estate District Women’s Ministry of the Church of Pentecost on Friday presented sanitary pads, pens and biscuits to the pupils of Estate Experimental Basic School at Sunyani in the Bono Region.
The presentation forms part of activities to mark this year’s Girl Child Day which also coincided with the Women’s Ministry celebrations which is marked in October every year.
As part of the celebration, the Women’s Ministry organised a breast cancer screening, as well as embarked on a school evangelism to win souls for God.
Speaking to The Spectator after the presentation, the wife of the District Pastor, Mrs Bernice Nobi, said the items were made up of 50 boxes of sanitary pads, 100 boxes of biscuits for the nursery and 100 pens.
The sanitary pad was to support the adolescent girls who are on their menstrual periods to take proper care of themselves.
This, she said was to prevent the young ladies from using unhygienic materials during their menstrual periods in order not to contract diseases.
She advised the women to use the opportunity to educate the young girls on how to apply the sanitary pads properly to avoid soiling themselves and avoid contracting infections.
She called on parents and guardians to prioritise the needs of their adolescent girls by providing such needs for them in order not to fall prey to unscrupulous people to jeopardise their education.
The Headmistress of the Estate Experimental Basic School, Mrs Agnes Mensah who received the items expressed her gratitude to the Estate District Women’s Ministry for their kind gesture.
She assured that the items would be presented to the beneficiary pupils.
