SWAG ladies join campaign for regular breast screening

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Ladies have called on women to avail themselves for regular breast screening especially in the month of October.
According to the SWAG Ladies, October marks the breast cancer awareness month, hence the need for early detection of the disease to save lives.
This was contained in a statement copied to The Spectator on Monday in Accra as part of the association’s effort to fight the disease.
It said one out of eight women worldwide is affected by breast cancer, but early detection significantly increases survival rates.
“We are committed to joining the global movement to educate, support, and empower individuals affected by breast cancer.
“As SWAG Ladies, we believe that every woman deserves access to comprehensive care, including medical, emotional, psychological, and social support,” it said.
It said it was time ‘SWAG’ ladies join the campaign to raise awareness about breast cancer risks, symptoms, and prevention, educate the public on the importance of early detection and screening and promote healthy lifestyle choices and preventive measures.
It encouraged women to self-examine themselves and go for regular screenings while urging survivors to celebrate advances in treatment as well as improved survival rates.
The global theme for this year’s awareness month is “No one should face breast cancer alone.”
The aim is to give attention to the silent struggles faced by survivors and patients who may feel isolated and unsupported due to the disease.
The goal of this year’s campaign is to ensure that survivors receive the warmth and support they need while battling with the disease and stigma.
