Teachers urged to pay attention to character, behaviour development of children
Mr Bright Loggoh
The Sunyani Municipal Director of Education, Mr Mark Godfred Domah has explained that in bringing up children, it is also important to pay particular attention to character and behaviour development.
That, he said would achieve a holistic child education.
He said many a time, teachers focus so much on the development of the mind, neglecting other important factors like behaviour and character.
This, he noted can be achieved through effective collaboration between teachers, parents and the community.
Mr Domah said this at the fifth graduation ceremony of three Garrison Kindergarten School at the Liberation Barracks, Sunyani in the Bono Region.
As part of activities to mark the day, the pupils treated guests with military drills by the school cadet, choreography and some recreational dances such as Gotha and Bima dances performed by the Ewe and Frafra people.
According to Mr Domah, educating school children were not limited to the school environment alone but other complementary roles played by parents and the community.
This, he said, was very crucial for their social, political and economic well-being in building a vibrant county.
He called on parents to assist teachers in the training of their children by providing their educational needs and urged teachers to pay attention to the character and behaviour development of their school children.
The headmistress of the school, Madam Veronica Azaanab said the school was working to build a Kindergarten structure which is anchored on excellence and a well-motivated staff to nurture the future generation
