Timing of Kyei Mensah-Bonsu’s resignation surprising – Atta Akyea
Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa South Constituency, Samuel Atta Akyea has expressed his amazement at the recent change in the leadership of the majority in Parliament.
After a Majority Caucus meeting at the Presidency on Wednesday, it was made public that the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu had resigned.
The news led to some tension within the rank and file of the majority in Parliament.
In an interview with Accra-based Asempa FM on Thursday, Mr Atta Akyea expressed his concerns about the timing of the resignation.
“I was very surprised because I felt considering the times we are in, we can’t do things like that. Because our situation is a bit precarious if you look at our numbers and that of the NDC,” he said.
“And I felt it was too late in the day to make changes to crash our unity. So I was a bit surprised it happened,” he stated.”
