Bulgarian Emb. : Gov’t sets up 3-member c’tee to find amicable solution
Following the recommendations of the Sole Inquirer to a find lasting solution to the Bulgarian Embassy land case, government through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has set up a three-member Committee to be chaired by the Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Benito Owusu-Bio.
This move comes as an outcome from the meeting between the Bulgarian Ambassador to Nigeria with accreditation to Ghana, H. E. Yanko V. Yordanov and the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Hon. Samuel A. Jinapor on Tuesday, 18th May, 2022.
Addressing the media, Hon. Jinapor gave an assurance that government and the Ministry are committed to work together to find amicable solutions which will completely put the matter to rest, just as the Sole Inquirer has recommended.
“you will recall that Justice Retired Kwasi Anto Ofori-Atta recommended that I use my good office to find an amicable solution to this issue and this is what has culminated to this meeting with the Bulgarian Ambassador”
The Minister said the meeting has further strengthened the already long standing and cordial relationship between the two countries and hoped that a more far reaching outcome will evolve from the encounter. “I look foward to building a relationship that goes way beyond the land matters into discussing bigger issues”
The Hon. Minister expressed his profound gratitude to the Envoy for his leadership, sense of solidarity and corporation and on behalf of the Government and people of Bulgaria the Minister also thanked the President for showing tremendous skill and diplomacy in his leadership and his involvement in dealing with the matter.
He assured the Envoy that the desire of the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in solving the matter is one that he in his capacity as the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, will follow through to the latter.
The Bulgarian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Yanko Yordanov in his initial comment thanked the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and the President of the Republic for their personal intervention and commitment in resolving the impasse between the Bulgarian Embassy and the Private Developer.
“Bulgaria is thankful to each and every Ghanaian institution, Parliament and especially the Presidency and I’m very hopeful that with the support of these institutions, we will find a lasting solution to this”
H.E Yordanov also assured the Minister that people affected in the Bulgarian Embassy demolition and to an extent, Bulgaria, understand that the Government of Ghana had no involvement in the demolition exercise and therefore should be rest assured that the situation will not mar the 60 years of relations between the two countries.
The three-member Committee also Mr. Maxwell Adu-Nsarfoa, Technical Director for Lands at the Ministry and a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as members.

Ghana Tourism Authority welcomes new CEO, Maame Efua Houadjeto
Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has officially welcomed its new Chief Executive Officer(CEO),Maame Efua Houadjeto who was recently appointed by the President.
This took place during a brief ceremony at the GTA Head Office in Accra today.
She succeeds former CEO Akwasi Agyeman, who resigned after eight years of outstanding leadership.
In her new role, Maame Efua will focus on expanding and strengthening industry collaborations while advocating for sustainable tourism initiatives.
She is committed to fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and inclusivity within the organization.
“I am honored to join Ghana Tourism Authority at this pivotal moment,” Maame Efua Houadjeto said.
“The institution has a rich history of promoting Ghana as a premier travel destination and ensuring industry excellence. I look forward to working with the talented team to further elevate our impact on the global tourism sector, ” she added.
Maame Efua will focus on expanding and strengthening industry collaborations while advocating for sustainable tourism initiatives in her new role. She is committed to fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and inclusivity within the organization.
Prior to joining GTA, Maame Efua Houadjeto served as the CEO of Image Consortium Group, Managing Director, and Creative Director of IE Design.
She was also the General Manager of MPlaza Hotel in 2002, bringing with her a wealth of experience in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Dr. Nii Moi Thompson Chairs the National Development Commission,Kwadwo Twum Boafo heads Financial Intelligence Center.
Development Economist Dr. Nii Moi Thompson has been appointed as Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission, pending consultations with the Council of State.
Dr Thompson previously served as the Director-General of the Commission, overseeing the preparation of the country’s 40-Year Development Plan.
From 2014 to 2015, Dr Thompson led Ghana’s technical delegations to the UN to develop the SDGs and subsequently guided their integration into Ghana’s national development agenda.
As chairman of the Commission, he will collaborate more closely with the Minister for Finance, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, the Government Statistician, and other presidential appointees and representatives from the sixteen regions to provide strategic advice to the President and Parliament for Ghana’s development.
In a related development, President John Dramani Mahama has also appointed Mr Albert Kwadwo Twum Boafo as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) while awaiting the reconstitution of the Board.
