Ghanaian Chef, Ebenezer Smith, popularly known as Chef Smith, has apologised to Ghanaians and the world at large for presenting a fake Guinness World Record (GWR) certificate.

Additionally, the embattled Chef also faked some International Chef Association certificate which he admitted and apologised for same.

Last Tuesday, Chef Smith at a press conference in Accra claimed to be the current GWR holder for the longest individual cooking marathon, with a remarkable duration of 802 hours and 25 minutes after attempting same a couple of months ago.

It was later, however, discovered that Chef Smith only deceived Ghanaians since he had not received the said certificate from the GWR, neither was his application accepted to engage in a cook-a-thon.

The GWR clarified, “the current and true current record holder is: The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 119 hrs 57 min 16 sec and was achieved by Alan Fisher (Ireland) in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from September 28 to October 3, 2023.”

Following social media outburst, Chef Smith, who was speaking with Serwaa Amihere on GHOne TV in tears, apologised to Ghanaians and the world at large for the embarrassment and lies.

“I render a very big apology on this big platform, and I apologise to the world that I am so sorry. I don’t deserve to live. But in my quest to earn a living, it has landed me in shame I am sorry, and I beg the entire nation,” he expressed.

He also went on to record a video which had since gone viral on social media, in the same tearful mood, apologising for his mistake and asking for forgiveness.
