GFA hosts first FIFA Club Professionalisation and Management Programme for Premier League Clubs

A two-day FIFA Club Professionalisation and Management Programme for Ghana Premier League Clubs opened at the Technical Centre of the Football Association on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, Esq. welcomed participants to the workshop, which has attracted top Premier League Executives at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram.

He emphasized the importance of the programme for the growth and professionalisation of Premier League clubs, while highlighting that the programme would  provide clubs with the necessary tools and knowledge to enhance their management structures, improve governance, and ensure sustainable development.

The General Secretary encouraged participants to fully engage in the sessions and apply the insights gained to elevate the standards of football in Ghana.

The knowledge-sharing and networking platform is aimed at enhancing the professionalisation of club operations, focusing on  building capacities in management, governance, and overall club development for the Premier League teams.

FIFA Experience Instructor and Consultant Pedro Manuel Correia Miranda is the lead instructor for the programme.

FIFA’s delegation is headed by Solomon Mudege, the Head of FIFA Development Programmes- Africa, Marcos Picallo Aguilar- FIFA Senior Professional Football Manager, and Development, Silmara Sousa – MA Regional Coordinator, FIFA Development Programmes.

This initiative is part of FIFA’s broader effort to promote the professionalisation of football clubs across different leagues and regions, ensuring that clubs are better structured to handle the challenges of modern football.

Swedru All Blacks stay top, Rospak FC cruise past Sefwi All Stars in Zone Two

Zone Two leaders Swedru All Blacks secured their fourteenth win this season in a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Future Stars at the Swedru Sports Stadium. 

Midfielder Ebenezer Amoh was the hero, scoring the decisive goal in the 22nd minute. 

Swedru All Blacks have extended their points accumulation to 45 after Matchday 18 and lead second place Rospak FC by four points.

Meanwhile Asekem FC shared the spoils in a goalless draw with PAC Academy at the Dr. Kofi Kodua Sarpong Stadium.

UCC Youngsters recorded their second successive away win for the first time this season in a 0-2 triumph over King Faisal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

 Mark Morrison and Bernard Ababio scored in either half to help UCC Youngsters grab all the points.

In Tarkwa, Rospak FC kept the pressure on Swedru All Blacks after beating Sefwi All Stars 3-0 at Akoon Park. Reuben Tetteh opened the scoring for Rospak in the 35th minute.

 John Amoah added the second goal in the 46th minute, before Richard Larbi sealed the win with a goal in the 67th minute. Rospak FC remains second in Zone Two with 41 points, 4 points behind leaders Swedru All Blacks.

Hohoe united maintain lead, port City ease past Kings Palace in Zone Three 

Hohoe United came from behind to beat former Premier League side Okwawu United in an emphatic 2-1 victory at the Hohoe Sports Stadium. 

Nti Justice gave visitors Okwawu United an early lead in the 13th minute, but William Oduro equalized with a lovely goal in the 25th minute before Kwadwo Boamah added the winner in the 74th minute. 

The win gives Hohoe United a four-point advantage at the top of the table in Zone Three.

Meanwhile Port City recorded their fifth victory away from home after beating Kings Palace 2-1 at the Akotex Park. Roland Maaquaye netted an early goal in the 6th minute for Port City FC, while Dawda Rakibu made it 2-0 in the 20th minute, before Adamu Amadu scored a consolation goal three minutes after the break for the home side.

Elsewhere at the Nania Park – FC Nania emerged from a scintillating 2-1 victory against former Premier League side Accra Great Olympics, ending their two-game winless run at home. Sumaila Lepoady gave FC Nania a slim lead in the first half. Peter Fiifi Hammond added to the tally in the 51st minute, before David Cobbinah scored a consolation goal for Great Olympics from the spot in stoppage time.
