Gospel musicians home & abroad must team up to project Ghanaian music – Estelle Safowaa

Estelle Safowaa

Australia-based Ghanaian gospel musician, Estelle Safowaa has advocated for a united front to break music barriers globally.

According to her, it is about time gospel musicians based in Ghana team up through collaborations with diaspora artistes to push the agenda globally.

Speaking to The Spectator, Estelle Safowaa said, “It’s the way to go now for a bigger joint collaboration between home and abroad gospel artistes to showcase our music to the big music world.”

She said Ghana cannot be left out of this great market both on the commercial aspect and propagation of the gospel as mandated in the bible.

Estelle Safowaa further disclosed that in times past the support wasn’t there, adding that “there was actually some level of friction, tension, and mistrust when gospel acts come together but today the conversation has changed and we are seeing a bigger support coming through from gospel artistes to themselves which is quite good.”

Talking about some of the challenges gospel musicians based abroad face, she said, getting the right managers to direct them is a problem.

“Music has gone heavily professional and you mostly need a good hand to manage you, sometimes, due to our work abroad we are not able to get that full-time freedom as our Ghanaian-based artistes have going to studio, interviews , and tours among others.

The gospel music dynamo also advised up-and-coming gospel musicians to have a proper mental orientation in the chosen field.

She added that it is tough out there and things “looks different when you get into the game and if you are not mentally prepared you can lose focus and the excitement you had becoming gospel artiste, and one must also pray for spiritual guidance and spiritual impact to make gains with the spread of the gospel.”

Estelle Safowaa is out with “He Reigns” featuring gospel heavyweight, Joe Mettle.
