I’m saving my award speech till I win the GMA UK Awards – Maya Blu
Lynx Entertainment signee, Maya Blu has expressed her aspiration of winning the GMA UK Awards she has been nominated for, adding that her speech for the D-day is waiting patiently to be released.
When asked why the energy she was known for at the beginning of her career had depreciated to some point, Maya pointed out “Actually, I just feel like slowing down just a little bit for personal reasons. There is nothing bothering me; I’m really having fun.”
In an interview with Chrystal Kwame-Aryee on Showbiz 360, the Ghanaian musician indicated that her career is gradually giving her recognition and she regards the entire journey as an exciting one; hoping to bag an award at the Ghana Music Awards, UK having been nominated in the category of ‘Uncovered Artist of the year’ and deliver a befitting speech, should that happen.

“Right now, people are getting to know me and I’m getting to know them as well. I’m going places and getting nominations. The journey is so fun… (speaking on award speech)I’m saving it for later when I finally win the GMA UK Award; very soon in October,” she said in absolute optimism.
Moving on to talk about her yet-to-release EP, the songstress noted that one of the singles on it that has been dropped ahead of time is making waves.
“‘Just Blue On It’ is an EP of 5 tracks. They are 5 dope tracks; you’ll love it. We have the lovey-dovey ones, the danceable ones and the normal ones we can all jam to. ‘Talk Too Much’ is off the EP and it’s already out; very beautiful visuals. It’s been just 9 days and it has over 500K views,” she stated.
She continued, “We released ‘Talk Too Much’ first because ‘Sho’ did very well and we want to keep people dancing. With the lovey-dovey ones, I want to show the other side of me that I can really sing. When you listen to ‘Antidote’, ‘Owner’ and then even ‘Change Over’, you’ll hear some good vocals on there.”
Wrapping up on the conversation, Maya Blu shared her take on why she believes her music is doing well in the Ghanaian music space.
According to her, “I think I’m working hard and the team is supporting me. They are also working extremely hard to make sure that things are put in place. The future’s so bright and I can’t wait to see it.”
