Minority forces adjournment of Appointment Committee

Chaos erupted at the Appointments Committee Committee forcing proceedings to be adjourned yesterday.
This followed a disagreement between the majority and the Minority over the vetting of two ministerial nominees.
The two were minister of Health Designate, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Minister for Foreign Affairs Designate, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Just after Kwabena Mintah Akandoh took his seat, the minority called for adjournment of the vetting, citing an earlier agreement.
According to them, there was an earlier agreement to only vet four nominees, but the majority took an exception to that insisting the two would be vetted.
Against this backdrop, proceedings came to a standstill, leading to chaos and destruction of state properties.
In the heat of the chaos, the majority leader, Mahama Ayariga, announced that the microphones were no longer functioning following the violent confrontations.
This forced proceedings to come to a close last night.
The vetting of ministerial nominees is expected to continue this morning.
