Mordzifa, Kwei-Sam defy odds to excel at MTN Invitational golf

Justice Mordzifa and Nadia Kwei-Sam showed class at the maiden MTN Invitational golf tournament 2023, which came off at the Celebrity Golf Club in Accra last Saturday.

In the face of stiff opposition in their respective groups, both showed their class, meandering through the various stages of the contest to emerge victorious.

Mordzifa, who had a torrid time, dismissing the bluff of his competitors, recorded 37 points to mount the podium for honours in the Men’s Group A event.

It was not an easy journey for him as Jack Yang Lin and Francis Amuzu followed closely with an ambitious target of snatching the top prize.

But in the end, Yang Lin’s 36 points could only secure him a second position with Francis Amuzu with 35 points in third position.

It was a memorable day for Mercy Werner in the ladies’ category as she swept the Closest-to-the-Pin and the Longest Drive prizes in the ladies’ category.

But when it came to what matters in the category, she fell short as she was undone by Nadia Kwei-Sam in an impressive showdown.

Kwei-Sam produced 32 points to beat Mercy Werner, who closely finished with 31 points to settle for the second position. Patricia Adusei-Poku placed third with 31 points.

Dr Nana Amoako Mensah was the winner of the Closest-to-the-Pin (Men) and the Longest Drive (Men) going to Solomon Okoe Allotey.

The Ag. Chief Enterprise Business Executive of MTN, Mr Daniel Asare told the participants that MTN was committed to the organisation of the competition.

He expressed excitement over the success of the event that provided a platform for golfers to interact with the brand executives.
