MTN wins seven awards, inducted into AHRIA Hall of Fame

MTN Ghana has been inducted into the African Human Resources Innovation Awards (AHRIA) Hall of Fame at a ceremony held last weekend in Accra.
In addition, the company won six other prestigious awards, the highest received by any nominee at the event.
The awards were: HR Hall of Fame, Best Organisation in Employee Benefits, Most Innovative Work from Home Plan Policy, Employer Brand of the Year, Human Resource Team of the Year (Gold).
Others are Employer of the Year, and the Africa Top 50 HR Leader which was won by the company’s Chief Human Resource Officer, Madam Amma Benneh-Amponsah.
It was the third time Madam Benneh-Amponsah had been recognised for her exceptional contribution to people and human capital strategies in Africa.
Speaking at the Awards, she expressed thanks to the organisers and dedicated the awards to MTN Employees, adding that the company was committed to create enabling environment that allowed employees to thrive.
Mr. Selorm Adadevoh, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, congratulated the HR team for the excellent work done over the years, especially during COVID-19 to ensure employees were “well informed, safe and energised to work anywhere and anytime.”
He also commended the human resource practices and interventions put in place to ensure productivity and innovation that continued to impact on the company’s valued customers and stakeholders.
The Africa Human Resources Innovation Awards formerly called Ghana Human Resources Innovation Awards is an annual celebration of leading Human Resource Practitioners and organisations with top-notch human resource models who have made sterling contributions to the corporate sector over the years.
MTN has won over 20 awards since the inception of the Africa Human Resources Innovation Awards in 2018.

Government, GoldFields,reach agreement on Damang Mine

The Government of Ghana and Goldfields Ghana Limited have reached an amicable agreement on a transitional plan for the Damang Mine.
The operational modalities of the transition involve issuing a new 12-month mining lease to Goldfields’ subsidiary, Abosso Goldfields Limited, pending parliamentary ratification in
May 2025.
Under the new arrangement, Goldfields will resume open-pit mining during the transition period, safeguarding jobs and conducting feasibility studies to establish Damang’s reserves and mine life.
At the same time, the processing of existing stockpiles will continue under the supervision of a joint management team composed of representatives from the Government of Ghana
and Goldfields. The two parties will work in good faith to secure a successful transition and eventual transfer of a viable mine to Ghanaian ownership.
Both parties have agreed to advance discussions in good faith on the renewal of the lease for the Tarkwa mine, due in 2027, and pledged to work together to enhance Ghana’s
potential in the mining sector as a favourable investment destination,

Known for her keen eye for detail and mastery in haute couture, her leadership is expected to usher in a new era for Nineteen57—one that blends timeless African sophistication with modern sensibilities for the stylish gentleman.
