Ndwomtofohene Nana Kwame Ampadu goes home today

Veteran Ghanaian musician, Ndwomtofohene, Nana Kwame Ampadu, will be laid to rest today in his hometown, Obo Kwahu in the Eastern Region of Ghana
During a courtesy call on the Editor of The Spectator, Mr Emmanuel Amponsah, the Obo Kwahu Abusuapanin, Nana Adofo Amoako said, right after the iconic musician was laid-in-state at the forecourt of the State House on Friday, October 7, 2022, the body was taken to his hometown, Obo Kwahu.

He added that because Nana Kwame Ampadu was from a royal family, his funeral arrangements would conform to customs and tradition, where he would be laid in state at Obo Community Centre on Saturday, followed by burial.
Nana Adofo said that thanksgiving service would be held at the same venue on Sunday, October 9, 2022.
According to him, plans were far advanced to set up Nana Ampadu Foundation together with a museum, where people who visit Kwahu during Easter could visit the place and learn more about the legend and Ghanaian music.
Nana Adofo was accompanied by a family elder, Opanin Osei Fosu, Rev. Emmanuel Owusu and Bishop S.A Badiako, Head Pastor of Living With Christ Ministry, where Nana Ampadu used to fellowship.
Mr Amponsah on his part commiserated with the bereaved family and promised them of the papers support to protect the legacy of the departed highlife legend.
Nana Kwame Ampadu passed on at the age of 76 on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, after he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra
Nana Ampadu was the founder of African Brothers Band, formed in 1963. The legendary musician has been credited with over 800 popular highlife tracks.
In 1973, he won a nationwide competition in Ghana and was crowned the “Adwomtofohene,” or King of Singers.

Bulldog, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo tip King Promise to win Artiste of the Year

It is the time of the year when musicians who have excelled in the year under review would be rewarded at the Ghana Music Awards.
Against this backdrop, entertainment analysts have started enlightening the public on how some Ghanaian artistes worked hard in the year under review.
It is for this reason that two renowned entertainment critics have openly endorsed King Promise for the Artiste of the Year title.
Speaking on Hitz FM, Nana Asiamah Hanson, affectionately called Bulldog said, King Promise will win the Artiste of the Year hands down.
According to him, his predictions do not fail.”King Promise will win hands down, King Promise pushed the boundaries more than anyone else. He was in Asia, tell me who went to Asia to promote our music there?,” he queried.
He noted that King Promise toured different continents and had hit songs on his album.
On his part Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, he would be disappointed if King Promise fails to win Artiste of the Year at this Year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
“This year’s award will go to King Promise, he has shown a lot of consistency from last year and there has not been any rest for him,” he said.
Consequently, he urged fans of King Promise to aggressively push for him to win the ultimate.
Arnold Asamoah also charged the board, academy and general public not to miss out crowning King Promise, because he is the deserving person for the Artiste of the Year.

Jutta Addo crowned Miss Ghana 2025

JUTTA Ama Pokuah Addo, a Law student at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) was crowned the winner of the Miss Ghana 2025 edition held over the weekend at the Avenue Event Centre in Accra.
The first runner-up was Maud Anti Oduro, while Melissa A-Montah, placed third.
The national event brought together young women from each of Ghana’s regions, all vying for the prestigious title.
Jutta, representing the Central Region, beat the other contestants after weeks of intense competition.
The feat grants her the opportunity to represent Ghana at the 72nd Miss World Festival, to be held in Telangana, India, on May 7-31.
Miss Jutta Addo, who also won awards for Miss Photogenic and Miss Social Media/Voting, charmed the judges and audience with her eloquence, grace, and dedication to her advocacy.
As the new Miss Ghana, she will embark on a year of service, ambassadorial duties, and preparation for the Miss World competition which takes place in India.
The contestants were judged not only on beauty but also on their intelligence, public speaking skills, and commitment to social causes.
The finale was a glamorous occasion, graced by personalities such as Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame, who delivered a lively performance that had the audience on their feet with his great hits. Songstress Lucya, Acoustic Frey and DJ Ryna also serenaded the crowd with their soulful melodies, adding to the night’s unforgettable moments.
The night also celebrated other outstanding contestants with special awards, including Most Beautiful Skin – Miss Maud Anti Oduro; Miss Fitness – Miss Emmanuella Kudjordji; Most Disciplined – Miss Priscilla Nutornutsi; Miss Congeniality – Miss Melissa Mintah and Miss Talent – Miss Stella Saka.
Others include Miss Eloquence – Miss Theresa Weyerane; Miss Beauty With a Purpose (BWAP) went to four contestants as they touched the hearts of many with their projects.
They are Miss Melissa Mintah, Miss Jutta Addo, Miss Naa Ayeley Hammond and Miss Nana Adjoa and Miss Top Model, Emmanuella Kudjordji.
For 68 years, Miss Ghana has produced outstanding ambassadors who champion social causes and represent Ghana on global stages.
Miss Ghana was founded by Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president and 68 years on, celebrated beauty, intelligence, and the impactful legacy of Ghana’s most iconic pageant.
