Qubbatu Hadra Islamic School begs for improved facilities

Sanitary Conditions at the Qubbatu Hadra Islamic School at Nima in the Ayawaso East Municipality in the Greater Accra Region is somewhat unsatisfactory as the institution begs for improved facilities.
Assistant Head Teacher of the school, Hajia Abiba Abukari, has therefore called on philanthropists and the government to assist the school construct suitable washrooms for the pupils and members of staff.
According to Hajia Abukari, the pupils used public places of convenience anytime they had to attend to nature’s call, which should not be the case.
“They have to pay with their own money whenever they use these public toilets. It is very disheartening, to see these young ones access public washroom,” she said.
Hajia Abukari made this known when the Municipal Chief Executive for Ayawaso East, Hajia Salma Mohammed Sani Kuta, paid a visit last Friday to officially welcome students back to school.
She said teachers and pupils had to utilise one urinal which was quite an inconvenience.
According to her, appeals made to the municipal assembly have not yielded any positive results, hence the reminder.
The Assistant Head Teacher further requested a recreational centre for the pupils, a designated offices for the members of staff, in addition to whiteboards and other teaching and learning materials.

Government, GoldFields,reach agreement on Damang Mine

The Government of Ghana and Goldfields Ghana Limited have reached an amicable agreement on a transitional plan for the Damang Mine.
The operational modalities of the transition involve issuing a new 12-month mining lease to Goldfields’ subsidiary, Abosso Goldfields Limited, pending parliamentary ratification in
May 2025.
Under the new arrangement, Goldfields will resume open-pit mining during the transition period, safeguarding jobs and conducting feasibility studies to establish Damang’s reserves and mine life.
At the same time, the processing of existing stockpiles will continue under the supervision of a joint management team composed of representatives from the Government of Ghana
and Goldfields. The two parties will work in good faith to secure a successful transition and eventual transfer of a viable mine to Ghanaian ownership.
Both parties have agreed to advance discussions in good faith on the renewal of the lease for the Tarkwa mine, due in 2027, and pledged to work together to enhance Ghana’s
potential in the mining sector as a favourable investment destination,
