SDA Church celebrates Children’s Day

The Kalpohin Estate Children Department of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Tamale, in the Northern Region has urged par­ents to study the Holy Bible with the children frequently.

That, according to the depart­ment, would aid in raising respon­sible and God-fearing children with firm foundation.

Ms Peley, a nine-year-old member of the department said this while preaching on the Sabbath to mark this year’s Children’s Day celebra­tion by the SDA Church worldwide.

She said, the Bible was the only hope for this generation and there­fore, parents should be focused on studying with the children than relying on cartoons.

She said most parents were work­ing very hard to pro­vide for their chil­dren but the focus must not shift from the children who are the reason for the daily struggles.

“Our parents are doing so well to provide our needs, and we are really appreciative, but from what we see around us and watch on television, we plead with them to use the Bible as the basis for whatever decision they take to guide us,” she added.

Mrs Sandra Ohenewaa Buta, the Children School Department Leader, explained that the day was set aside by SDA churches all over the world to highlight and affirm the gifts and talents of children in the church.

It is an occasion to celebrate them as active participants in the life of the church and show them how important they are in God’s ministry, because they are part of the church today and leaders of tomorrow.
