Shooting “Le Gba Gbe” video in my hometown fulfilling – Stonebwoy

Ghanaian dancehall music heavyweight, Stonebwoy known in private life as Livingstone Etse Satekla has revealed that shooting the video for “Le Gba Gbe” song in his hometown was fulfilling for him.

The song “Le Gba Gbe” to wit, I am alive, is a story about his journey from entanglement to a happy place.

The video of the song, which is the lead on Stonebwoy’s much talked about Anloga Junction Album, was shot in his hometown, Alakple, a town in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region of Ghana.

The town is situated along the south eastern part of the popular Keta lagoon in the Anlo enclave.

Speaking to The Spectator, Stonebwoy said, shooting the video in his hometown was an experience, because the reception throughout the journey was heartwarming for the two-day exercise.

He revealed that he had always wanted to do something to project his hometown, and he realised this was an opportunity to promote where he hails from to the rest of the world.

The multiple award winning Ghanaian musician further disclosed that it was fulfilling for him to take the whole crew to his hometown to shoot the video which was directed by Rex Films.

The concept of the video, saw Stonebwoy and a couple of others captured, chained and detained in a forest as well as denied their freedom as human beings.

This notwithstanding, with determination, he broke out from the shackles and regained his freedom, depicting the lyrics of the song, “He is alive.”

As part of his dream to promote his hometown, Stonebwoy in the video, showcased the Keta Lagoon, varied occupations, beautiful landscapes, culture and the bust of the prominent Africa-American, philanthropist and boxer Muhammad Ali nicknamed “The Greatest”, planted at the junction along the Anloga and Dabala road.

“Le Gba Gbe” is the lead track of the 15 songs on the Anloga Junction album produced by 12 renowned music producers across the face of Africa and Europe.

The producers include Mix Master Garzy, Streetbeatz, Nana Rogues, MOG, Beatz Dakay, Spanker, Kabaka Pyramid, Ipaapi, N2THEA, Andre “Dre” Harris, Riga, Phantom and Fox Beatz.

TGMA unveils nominees this Saturday

The air is electric in Ghana’s music scene as the long-anticipated nominee announcement for the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) is nearly here.

 Ghana need industry bank to fund talents — Rocky Jigga

 Ghanaian UK-based afrobeat singer, Emmanuel Rocky Gyeniaw Jnr known in entertainment circles as Rocky Jigga has expressed the need for an industry bank to fund talents.

According to him, this will help Gha­naian musicians to compete effectively with their foreign counterparts.

Rocky Jigga believes that many talent­ed musicians have coiled back into their shells due to funding challenges.

“There’s more room for improvement. The industry needs more investors from both the government and private sector at large. We need an industry bank that funds talents, events and everything entertaining,” he said.

The song which came with its video was produced by B Boat and it empha­sised a man’s preference for an ideal woman irrespective of the size.
