Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpando and former Deputy Minister for Gender Children and Social Protection, Della Sowah has donated Sanitary pads to some schools in the Kpando Constituency.
The gesture on May 28, was to commemorate World Menstrual Hygiene Day with Junior High Schools in the Kpando Municipality.
The schools that received the gesture were Islamic Arabic School, Immaculate Conception Girls School and RC Girls School.
Presenting the items to the students, the MP addressed them on maintaining a good menstrual hygiene for healthy living.
She was of the view that poor menstrual health and hygiene undercut fundamental rights for women and girls, worsening social and economic inequalities.
Della Sowah urged them not to indulge in activities which would lead to teenage pregnancy to truncate their education and future.
She said this would ensure they became good citizens and fulfilled their dreams.
Menstrual Hygiene Day is an annual awareness day on May 28 to highlight the importance of good menstrual hygiene management at a global level.
