GFA Foundation launched

The Ghana Football Association has officially launched a charity wing called GFA Foundation with the aim of reaching out to the needy, touching lives, giving back to society and most importantly focusing on the welfare of industry players.

The foundation launched today is to positively impact lives of people through the support of national and international development initiatives and goals.

The Foundation will be managed by a Board of Trustees chaired by Astute Chartered Insurer Daniel Awuah Darko.

Black Satellites Defeat Niger 2-0 in WAFU Zone B AFCON Qualifier

Ghana’s Under-20 football team, the Black Satellites, secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Niger in their second Group A match at the 2024 WAFU Zone B AFCON Championship on Sunday, October 20.

The win, courtesy of Aziz Musibau’s second-half brace, takes Ghana’s points haul to four points after two games, breathing new life into the Satellites’ hopes of qualifying for next year’s U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The match began with both teams creating a number of scoring opportunities, but neither could break the deadlock in the first half. The stalemate continued until the 63rd minute when Musibau struck with a long-range goal, giving Ghana the lead.

Ten minutes later, Musibau sealed the win with his second goal of the day, when he latched on to a well placed pass from Jerry Afriyie and expertly converted. Niger’s attempts to mount a comeback were thwarted by Ghana’s composed defense, ensuring a clean sheet and maximum points.

Ghana now enters the final group match against tournament hosts, Togo, on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, with high hopes of sealing qualification to the next stage of the competition.

Togo and Benin are tied in second place in Group A with two points apiece, while Niger are bottom on a point.

On Wednesday, final Group A matches will be played – Ghana tackle Togo, while Benin and Niger will do battle for qualification to the semifinal of the qualifying series.

WAFU B Qualifiers: Ghana U20 brace-hero Aziz Musibau named MVP against Niger

Ghana U-20 striker Aziz Musibau was named Man of the Match Award after his brace cushioned the Black Satellites to a comfortable 2-0 win over Niger at the WAFU B U20 Championship in Togo.

The talented forward scored twice in the second half to inspire the Black Satellites to their first win in Group A.

Desmond Ofei’s side drew 2-2 with Benin in their opening match on Thursday October 17, 2024, before accounting for Niger on Sunday.

The youngster deservedly clinched the Most Valuable Player accolade after an impressive showing against the Nigeriens.

Ghana, top of Group A with four points, will take on host Togo in their final Group match on Wednesday, hoping to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2024 WAFU B U20 Championship.

Hosts Togo recorded their second draw of the competition when they played out a scoreless draw with Benin on Sunday- setting the stage foir an enthralling contest on Wednesday October 23, 2024.

The competition serves as the qualifier for the 2025 U20 AFCON
